We used to visit Crummock Water and Buttermere every year. This was my first time there in over twenty years and I was really pleased with this black and white / selenium conversion. The Lake District is perhaps one of, if not the best area of outstanding natural beauty in the UK and it is always a pleasure to visit the National Park. This image is improved I think by the location of the rowing boat. It was almost as if someone had put it there on purpose to enhance the view of the Loweswater fells behind it.

Grosmont Station, North Yorkshire - August 2013
As part of a colour popping exercise, I practised with this image of a train leaving Grosmont Station. I call this one 'The train departing ' I used Lightroom to remove all the colours except red, orange and yellow and then adjusted their levels as well as brushing out some unwanted areas of colour along the side of the carriages to achieve this image.

Zoom Burst Tour of Yorkshire - May 2015
Comments from Expert Judge Robert Rhead, on Photocrowd.com:
A great shot and a classic subject for Zoom Burst Photography. These fast moving cyclists don't however make the easiest subject to photograph with this technique and the photographer has made a good attempt at capturing them. There is good composition and colour throughout the frame. For me, the only things that lets the image down just slightly is the front cyclist's face isn't quite as sharp as it could have been. A fine photo however and one that the photographer should be proud of.

Berlin Staircase (Minimalism) - April 2018
Having looked at a whole host of minimalist images, I decided to include this one which I took in the Gelmeldegalerie in Berlin. The Staircase was not accessible to the public otherwise I would have preferred to have had some human interest in the image. However, it comprises distinct parallel lines and perfect symmetry which was the purpose of capturing this shot.
"I really liked the concept of this image and love how you have managed to get the framing and line up of the metal work going from corner to corner in the exact same place. The only reason why it just missed out on the top 10 was that the white background I found to be too bright, you can just make out bits of details being preserved in there, but for the majority, they look to be lost, I think with being able to see more texture the image would be a complete winner."
